The Strange Occurrences team

We all have lifelong interest in the paranormal, in history and older buildings. None of us claims to be psychic or have the skills of a medium, but — like many people — we have each had our own experiences of things that are difficult to attribute to normal or natural causes.
We understand and respect scientific method and take the position that nothing in the world is absolutely proven; we can only work with the best available theory until a better one presents itself.
We are a naturally curious, enquiring and critical thinking bunch, rather than being belief-oriented. While starting from a neutral or somewhat sceptical position, we're open minded to phenomena that lie beyond or outside current scientific understanding.
James Gilberd

“I struggle with knowing whether a phenomenon is actually occurring in the world outside or the world inside my head. How can one distinguish? We try to capture hard data to back up what we perceive, or imagine we perceive, but that’s trickier than you’d think. But then nobody said this was going to be easy.”
Mark Marriott

“I don't believe it unless I see it, hear it, smell it, taste it or touch it; even then I'm not convinced it's real!”
Helen Jones

“I never totally trust my senses, only when someone else has experienced exactly the same thing at exactly the same time do I start trusting what I have seen, heard or felt.”
Denise Durkin

“The first principle is that you must not fool yourself and you are the easiest person to fool.”—Richard P Feynman
Alia Miller

“I believe there are different energies out there that we do not yet understand and this is what we call paranormal phenomena. I'm interested in this because I've had a lot of experiences that I can't explain and I want to find out more about what's really going on.”
Karen Lee

“I have lived in several old and possibly haunted houses which combined with an interest in history has led me here. Give me an old building to wander round in and I’m happy.”
Jo Davy

“I grew up in a house built in the 1700s, and a number of people claimed to have had paranormal experiences while staying or living there. I wasn’t one of them, but the house ignited an interest in the potential for some essence of those who have gone before to linger in a place. As a group, I feel the Strange Occurrences team members are willing to consider this possibility, while striving — always — to first eliminate all rational and scientific explanations for any purported paranormal activity
Patrick Brown

Patrick is the most recent addition to the team. His level-headedness and practical approach combines with a high level of energy and enthusiasm for paranormal investigation. He's keen to learn and to share his knowledge and experience with the team and our clients.
Helmut Marko

Helmut is a student at The Film School and has already made a documentary about Strange Occurrences. Helmut will be working with the team and with fellow film student Gene to document the Town Hall investigation.
James Gilberd from Strange Occurences gives some insight into the team.
